Tell me which anime you keep coming back to, or which opening you never skip. That is a good place to start our conversation.
I'm ryo, an anisong DJ, event organiser and founder of anilife. Since 2012, I've been bringing anime fans together through music and events. Taking visitors to the places behind the stories is another way for me to share that enthusiasm.
During tours, I use a translation device to communicate in languages ââfrom various countries.
I am currently studying multiple languages.
For example, in Shimokitazawa, I lead walking tours following the real locations of Bocchi the Rock! We look for streets, stairways and familiar details from the series, with time for photos along the way. A vending machine can become quite a special stop when you recognise the scene it belongs to. We can even recreate a character's pose at the exact spot from the anime for a memorable photo.
Tokyo is also home to countless other anime filming locations, Jujutsu Kaisen, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Your Name, just to name a few, the list really doesn't end. A little further out, we can also spend time exploring anime locations in Saitama, such as Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day and My Dress-Up Darling. Nearby areas like Kanagawa, Gunma and Chiba can also realistically be added to your itinerary, depending on how much time you have during your stay, we can discuss the possibilities together. In Yokohama, for instance, we can also include experiences beyond anime pilgrimages, like enjoying a meal in Chinatown or trying a fortune-telling session. I'm also happy to guide you through local specialties and sightseeing spots unrelated to anime. This kind of well-rounded knowledge is something only a local Japanese guide can offer.
Music is also a big part of what I can share with you. Through anilife, I help visitors plan experiences around anime and music, including anime pilgrimages and anisong events, where songs from anime take centre stage. If you would like to combine a walk with a music experience during your stay, we can discuss the possibilities together. Joining a music event could even become an opportunity to make new friends here in Japan.
Come with your favourite series, a song you love or an idea you haven't quite worked out yet. We can start there and build a plan around your interests and travel dates.
I offer walking tours across Tokyo and beyond, with custom anime and music experiences available by arrangement. Available most Sundays, with Saturdays possible if arranged in advance. Send me your travel dates, interests and group size so we can discuss the options and pricing. Feel free to reach out anytime â I'm happy to talk it through.đ
